2020 French Open Odds Update – ATP & WTA Betting

With the 20202 French Open getting underway in just over 48 hours, now is a perfect time to offer up some last minute betting predictions. If you’ve already checked out my Top 5 picks to win on, both, the men’s ATP side and women’s WTA portion, then you’re going to enjoy the handful of predictions that you’re about to get on my potential, ‘under the radar’ winners. Let’s get started on the men’s ATP side so you can keep betting against their French Open odds.

Last Minute Odds to Win 2020 French Open

Kei Nishikori +12500

The current world No. 35 is just 1-2 on the year, but the 2014 U.S. Open runner-up has reached the fourth round or better at Roland Garros in each of the last five years with a trio of runs to the quarterfinals along the way, including last year. Still, just 30-years-old, Nishikori has plenty of grand slam experience as he’s reached the quarterfinals or better in all four majors. He’ll have a chance to make another deep run.

Denis Shapovalov +9000

The 21-year-old Canadian has gone 1-2 in three career matches at Roland Garros while never making it past the second round, but the young lefty made his deepest run at a major earlier this month by reaching the quarterfinals at the recently completed U.S. Open. Shapovalov, 13-10 on the year, is a modest 16-13 on clay in his career, but he’s trending upward and has youth on his side, so, there’s that!

Borna Coric +12500

Still, just 23-years-old, Borna Ćorić is a modest 10-8 on the year, but I like his chances heading into the French after making his best run at a major by reaching the quarterfinals at the U.S. Open earlier this month. More importantly, Ćorić is 9-5 at Roland Garros and has reached the third round in four of his five career appearances on the red clay.

Gael Monfils +10000

Now, 34-years-old, I love the electrifying Frenchman’s entertaining playing style, but that’s not why I think he can make a deep run at Roland Garros this year. No, Monfils looks like a real contender as he enters this major with a stellar 16-4 record that includes a pair of titles at Rotterdam and Montpellier. Monfils has made three appearances in the quarterfinals at Roland Garros (2009, 2011, 2014) while reaching the semis back in 2008.

Okay, now, it’s on to the women’s WTA portion.

Elina Svitolina +1400

The world No. 5 from Ukraine is a modest 11-7 on the year and got knocked out of the recently completed Italian Open in the quarterfinals, but she’s also reached the third round or better at Roland Garros in five straight years with a pair of runs to the quarterfinals along the way (2015, 2017). Svitolina is 16-7 all-time on the red clay and will be motivated to make her deepest run at a major this year.

Sofia Kenin +4500

The 21-year-old world No. 6 has already won one major in taking home the hardware at the 2020 Australian Open in January and she heads into Roland Garros with a fine, 18-8 mark on the year. Yes, she got embarrassed in a stunning 6-0, 6-0 loss to Victoria Azarenka at the recently completed Italian Open, but she also reached the fourth round of last year’s French open and will undoubtedly be poised to finish off her 2020 grand slam season with an even deeper run at Roland Garros.

Sloane Stephens +8000

While I am almost perpetually disappointed in the 27-year-old American, Stephens, the world No. 34, reached the finals at Roland Garros in 2018 while making a run to the quarters last year. Yes, Stephens is an awful 3-9 on the year, but she’s had success at the French and should be highly motivated after her struggles this season.

Maria Sakkari +4500

If you haven’t seen the powerful 25-year-old Greek star and world No. 24, then you should know that she’s beaten the likes of Serena Williams, Johanna Konta and Amanda Anisimova recently before falling to Williams in a three-set thriller in the U.S. Open. Sakkari is 15-9 on the year and could very well make a deep run at Roland Garros to improve on her modest 3-3- career mark on the red clay!
