World No. 101 Yannick Hanfmann and World No. 9 Gael Monfils have never met before. Hanfmann is 4-1 on the year while Monfils has gone 16-3 with titles at Rotterdam and Montpellier. Hanfmann is 28-years-old and has never made much of a dent on the ATP World Tour as he comes into this one with a career mark of 12-14. This one should most certainly be over in straight sets as Monfils cruises.

Karen Kachanov Vs Jan Lennard-Struff at 7:30 AM

World No. 30 Jan Lennard-Struff and world No. 16 Karen Kachanov have split two career meetings. Struff is 12-7 on the year and comes into this event off a run to the third round at the US Open where he was dispatched by world No. 1 Novak Djokovic in straight sets. Kachanov is 12-8 in 2020 and comes into this event off his own run to the third round where he was dispatched by Aussie Alex de Minaur!

Prediction

Kachanov won the first career meeting 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 at Halle on grass in 2019 but Struff got some revenge by recording a 1-6, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (1) win at the ATP Masters 100 in Paris on an indoor hardcourt. I’m going with the young, bigger Kachanov to get the win in this one based mostly on the fact that he’s got the bigger serve and should be able to earn a few more cheap points in this one than Struff. Kachanov’s 132-105 career mark on the ATP Tour is better than Struff’s 135-153 and his bigger weapons will help him advance in three tough sets in this one!

Daniil Medvedev Vs Ugo Humbert at 11:00 AM

22-year-old Ugo Humbert has gone 11-7 on the year with one title at Auckland in January. During that event, the world No. 42 showed he is going to be a force to be reckoned with for years to come. Hubert took out world No. 13 Denis Shapovalov in the quarters before taking out world No. 20 John Isner in the semifinals. Hubert then dispatched world No. 24 Benoit Paire in the finals to earn his first ATP Tour title. However, since then, Hubert has struggled in going 6-8 in 14 matches.

24-year-old Daniil Medvedev is 15-6 on the year and although he has yet to claim a title, he did make a fantastic run to the semifinals of the recently completed US Open before falling to eventual champion and world No. 3 Dominic Thiem in three difficult sets.

Prediction

While Medvedev, the world No. 5 has never faced world Humbert, the No. 42, I’ve got to believe he’s gearing up for an extended run at the quickly-approaching French Open. Medvedev wins this match in straight sets to advance to the next round.
