Oilers’ player Connor McDavid tests positive for the coronavirus

Edmonton’s top player, Connor McDavid tested positive for COVID-19. Right now, he’s self-quarantining. By all accounts, McDavid should have no issues getting over the coronavirus. He said that he’s experiencing only mild symptoms.

McDavid has 469 points in 351 career games for the Oilers. At just 23-years-old, McDavid has won a couple of Art Ross trophies, handed out to the top scorer in NHL, and the Hart Memorial Trophy, which the league awards to its MVP. Connor should be ready to go once the season starts on Dec. 1.

All eyes on NHL Draft

On Tuesday, Oct. 6 the NHL has their yearly draft. The top five picks, per more than one analyst, should be among the following players: LW Alexis Lafreniere, C Quinton Byfield, LW Tim Stutzle, LW Lucas Raymond, C Cole Perfetti.

Right now, odds favor Avalanche, Lightning, and Golden Knights

Colorado, Tampa Bay, and Vegas have maintained favoritism to win the 2021 Stanley Cup. The Avalanche are a +650 outright favorite while the Lightning and Knights are both at +700.

One team to keep an eye on appears to be the New York Rangers. NYR parted ways with future hall of fame goalie Henry Lundqvist. The Rangers believe they’ll be fine rotating Igor Shesterkin and Alexander Georgiev.

New York also gets the first pick in the NHL Draft on Tuesday night. The Rangers’ odds are down to +2000, the same as 2020 conference winner Dallas’. Last season, NYR added right wing player Kappo Kakko.

In 10 games played this past season, Kakko had 23 points. Adding another big time player should help the Rangers play better than their odds. If you’re looking to make an early Stanley Cup wager, consider the Rangers a viable underdog to upset the favorites.
