2020 NFL Week 5 SU Picks Expert Analysis

Week 4 of the NFL season was a bit of a strange one, with a game postponed due to COVID concerns, while another was moved to Monday night. We also saw the first coach fired this season, with Bill O’Brien getting canned after leading the Houston Texans to an 0-4 start to the year. We always expected this season to be a little strange and it is definitely living up to those expectations. Week 5 now comes onto our radar, with the hope being that no more games are affected this coming weekend. For now, things look to be all good on that front, so we are going to look at all the games one the Week 5 schedule when making our picks. The straight up picks that we choose here will all be games where the bookies have things as being tight in the odds, so let’s get right to it so you can place your bets against their NFL odds.

Week 5 SU Picks for the 2020 Season | NFL Betting

Atlanta Falcons over Carolina Panthers

While Bill O’Brien was the first head coach to be fired this season, he will not be the last. With the Falcons off to an 0-4 start, head coach Dan Quinn is in the hottest seat of all. His team will be at home this weekend in a divisional game against the Carolina Panthers, who are off to a bit of a surprising 0-2 start. We say surprising because they are in a rebuild year and are currently playing without RB Christian McCaffrey, their biggest offensive weapon. Given how things have gone for Atlanta, this is a bit of a dangerous pick, but they have won 5-straight against the Panthers, so I’m taking them to win here.

Indianapolis Colts over Cleveland Browns

Yes, we are still very early in the season, but both of these teams must be very pleased with where they are at the moment. Both teams looked poor in their season openers and both started at 0-1. Both, though, have gone unbeaten since then and are coming into Week 5 sitting at 3-1. It’s still too early to talk about this game having playoff ramifications, but moving to 4-1 will mean that one of these teams is going to be sitting in a very nice spot after this weekend. You have to think that the Colts have a great shot at doing just that, as they are on a run that has seen them go 8-1 SU in their last 9 games against the Cleveland Browns.

Houston Texans over Jacksonville Jaguars

It is more than a little surprising to see the Houston Texans get off to an 0-4 start, but perhaps not totally unexpected given their schedule. They had to start out their season by playing the Chiefs, Ravens, and Steelers, and after losing 3 to start the year, it is often tough for a team to pull out of that rut. I had them winning last weekend, but I got that pick wrong. I am sticking with them in Week 5, though, as the Jaguars are a team that are there for the taking. The Texans are 10-2 SU on their last 12 meetings with the Jaguars, so this seems like a pretty straightforward pick.
